Course Details

The AI for Learning course is a 4-week, hands-on program designed to help learners use accessible AI and digital productivity tools to support their studies and personal development.

Learners work with tools such as ChatGPT, NotebookLM, Gemini, Capcut AI, Canva AI, and Google Workspace to:

  • Understand and revise academic content
  • Plan and manage their studies
  • Communicate ideas clearly
  • Create simple, well-structured academic and creative outputs

The course keeps technical explanations high-level and approachable, while strongly emphasising academic integrity, online safety, information verification, and responsible AI use. By the end of the program, learners graduate with a personal AI learning portfolio showcasing how they use AI as a study and productivity assistant, not a shortcut.

This course is ideal for:

  • Recent Kenyan high school graduates aged 17–21
  • Learners who completed high school within the last 12 months
  • Students awaiting university, college, or other post-secondary education

What are the course prerequisites?

  • Ability to type and use a keyboard
  • Basic skills in saving and opening files

  • Basic experience with Google Drive and Google Docs
  • Functional English proficiency

  • AI Tools Overview: Introduction to ChatGPT, NotebookLM, and Gemini.
  • Prompting Basics: Hands-on practice summarising texts and explaining concepts using AI tools.

  • Career & Education Discovery: Exploring AI applications across industries and researching university programs.
  • NotebookLM Analysis: Uploading notes, documents, and readings for deep analysis.
  • Revision Materials: Turning notes into structured study guides and revision aids with AI support.

  • Portfolio Completion and Presentation: Finalising and presenting the individual AI learning portfolio.

Portfolio components

Learners build an AI student learning portfolio progressively throughout the course. By the end of the 4 weeks, each learner will have completed:

  • AI-supported study notes or concept explanations
  • Improved academic writing sample (with AI assistance clearly indicated)
  • Personal study plan or workflow diagram
  • AI-enhanced visual academic or creative artefact
  • Final individual presentation showcasing portfolio insights and learning outcomes
